SANITARY PREVENTIONS in force relative to Immigrants from China aitỹ

1. Every immigrant proceeding from China shall, before embarking,

repair to a doctor to be examined and his state of health certified to.

This certificate shall be legalized by the Mexican Consul of the Port of

embarkation, and should there be none, by that of the United States of

America. The date of issuance of these certificates shall not be more

than two months previous to the arrival of the ship in the Republic.

2. On arrival at the Mexican port of disembarkation, the immigrants

shall be disinfected: the ship, the cargo and the baggages to the satis-

faction of the Delegate of the Superior Board of Health, and the immigrants

shall be subjected to the measures of vigilance, isolation and quarantine

for observation provided by law, they to be fed by the Companies that

transported them, during the time necessary in carrying out such measures.

tion the Companies that transport them shall construct in said port, to the

satisfaction of the Superior Board of Health, barracks of observation of

a capacity proportionate to the maximum of immigrants which they can bring

each time.

When the immigrants do not exceed ten, or when, in special cases

Health may and under the precautions agreed to, the Superior Board of

permit same even when exceeding this number, they shall disembark in

Acapulco, Mazatlan, Guaymas, Tampico, Vera Cruz or Coatzacoalcos.

Besides the above mentioned, all other measures of precaution

that the Superior Board of Health may dictate, if deemed necessary, shall be observed, taking into account, in each case, the annotations on the bills of health of the ships, the health condition of the port of embarka- tion or those which they may have called at, the accidents occurred during the voyage, the state of cleanliness of the ships or of the passage and the

sanitary conditions on board, and

The Superior Board of Health and its Delegates shall detain the ships for the time that may be necessary for carrying out the measures to

be provided.
